The History of Oatmeal Cookies

oatmealcookiesOatmeal cookie history dates back to the Roman Empire.  When the Romans invaded the Scots, the Scots would carry oats in the pouches.  It was in the late 1800′s when the first oatmeal cookies appeared.  Oatmeal cookies have become popular.  In fact, April 30th is National Oatmeal Cookie Day.

Oats are healthy.  They lower colesterol, and are a good source of  Vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, iron, manganese, magnesium and protein. They’re even healthy for horses.

Kids were surveyed to see what the most popular cookie is.  Oatmeal isn’t on the list.  Here’s a link.
